Upavon brooch
This is one of my nicest finds, I could not believe the condition it came out in, complete with pin and coral?
I think it must have just been bought up by the plough after 2400 years.
I believe it to be an Upavon type Circa 400-300 BC

dragonesque brooch
The dragonesque brooch was produced during the early part of the roman occupation from the 1st to the 2nd century AD.These were predominant in Brigantia (northern England) and are described as a flat plate brooch based on a broken back scroll.the medial strips and lozenge panels on this brooch would have been enamelled unfotunately none survives on this example.the pin looped around the head under the body to catchplate on the tail. These were quite heavy duty and would probably been used on a heavy wool cloak.
unknown type
A solid silver brooch, heavily guilded with a punched dot pattern throughout. Possibly a fertility piece.
The closest I have seen to this brooch is in Nigel Mills Celtic and Roman Artifacts page 25 C30
Gold La Tene type 111
I purchashed this brooch as part of a collection and thought it was a bronze brooch that had been stripped of its patina. After a few weeks curiosity got the better of me and I took it to my local jeweller who tested it and confirmed it was in fact 24c gold or better. This really made my day! circa 1st century BC\AD.
Le Tene 111 type brooches. 1st century bc/ad
These one piece brooches were common and serve to show the increased wearing of brooches in this period.Normally a plain form, they lasted until the middle of the 1st century AD.
