Ian's metal detecting site
Welcome to my site, I have been detecting for many years now and I have been lucky enough to have access to some really good sites, mostly in the South of England.

Most weeks I hope to get out detecting no matter what the weather is like. Not very often beaten by the weather but on one weekend I was travelling for two hours, a light April snow flurry got worse and worse and after coming off the main road to a country lane close to the sight I was forced to turn around.
I have even been out when its been very cold but hopeful of some good detecting only to find under the top two inches of mud was the dreaded perma-frost, making it almost impossible to recover the target. It has been so wet on other occasions that wellies end up weighing a ton with the mud on them and feels like you are walking around with half the field stuck to you. We persevere because you never know what you might walk over that day.
Over the years I have found and collected a range of artefacts that I will be displaying on this sight.
I am not an expert but I will try to add information to any piece or group of artefacts. The aim of this site will be to help and encourage others to go out and enjoy this great hobby.
I will also have an email address so if anyone wants to add or correct me on any of the info listed, or just to comment on the site.
Whilst you hear and see coins and artefacts coming up week in and week out your favourite sites will become quieter and new sites will become harder to find. Even with new machines with greater depth and discrimination, it will become harder and harder as time goes by. No one is putting this stuff back into the ground, so we need to enjoy our hobby now and the rewards it brings.
